Using Jump Logic

Using Jump Logic

Jump Logic

Overview

Jump Logic allows surveys to automatically skip to specific questions based on a respondent’s answers. Instead of showing every question to every respondent, the survey dynamically displays only the most relevant questions.

This helps create a more personalized, shorter, and user-friendly survey experience. It also improves response quality by avoiding irrelevant questions.

For example, if a respondent selects that they use LinkedIn, the survey can automatically jump to LinkedIn-related questions while skipping questions related to Instagram. Similarly, respondents selecting Instagram can be directed only to Instagram-specific questions.

Jump Logic is especially useful for surveys with multiple user paths, conditional sections, or screening questions.

When to use it:
Use Jump Logic when you want respondents to follow different question paths based on their answers.

IdeaUse Jump Logic to shorten long surveys by skipping entire sections that are not relevant to specific respondents.

Key Use Cases

  • Personalize survey flow based on responses

  • Skip irrelevant questions automatically

  • Create different survey paths for different respondent groups

  • Reduce survey length and respondent fatigue

  • Replace multiple display logic conditions with a simpler flow

How to Use Jump Logic

How to Access Jump Logic

  1. Open the Survey Builder

  2. Select the question where you want to apply logic

  3. Click the Logic icon next to the question

  4. Select Jump Logic from the logic menu

Understanding Jump Logic

Jump Logic allows respondents to move directly to another question depending on their answer.

For example:

  • If the respondent answers Yes to “Do you use our product?”, the survey can jump to a product feedback question.

  • If the respondent answers No, the survey can instead jump to a question asking why they have not used the product.

This helps remove unnecessary questions and creates a smoother survey experience.

Apply Jump Logic Conditions

After selecting Jump Logic, users can define conditions that control where respondents should be redirected.

Users can configure logic such as:

  • If Answer = Yes → Jump to Product Feedback Question

  • If Answer = No → Jump to Non-User Question

Once conditions are configured:

  1. Save the logic

  2. Exit the logic configuration panel

The survey will now automatically redirect respondents based on the selected conditions.

NotesJump Logic works best when questions are clearly organized into sections or response paths.

Preview the Survey Flow

After applying Jump Logic, preview the survey to verify that the logic behaves as expected.

Testing helps ensure:

  • Respondents are redirected correctly

  • Relevant questions appear properly

  • Unwanted questions are skipped

This is especially important when multiple logic conditions exist within the same survey.

Jump Logic vs Display Logic

Jump Logic is particularly useful when you want to skip or hide multiple questions at once. Instead of applying Display Logic individually to several questions, a single Jump Logic condition can redirect respondents directly to the required section.

This makes Jump Logic a faster and more efficient option for managing complex survey flows.

InfoJump Logic is commonly used in screening surveys, branching questionnaires, and multi-path survey experiences.

Best Practices for Using Jump Logic

To create better survey experiences:

  • Keep logic paths simple and easy to follow

  • Test all possible respondent paths before publishing

  • Group related questions together for smoother navigation

  • Use Jump Logic for larger skips and Display Logic for smaller conditional visibility changes

Warning
Incorrect Jump Logic configuration may accidentally skip important survey questions. Always preview and test the survey flow before publishing.
