Import Contacts from a CSV File

Contact Lists are used to send surveys to respondents. If you need to add many contacts at once, you can import contacts using a CSV file in the Contacts section.

Your CSV file should include mandatory contact details such as Name and Email, along with any additional contact properties you want to import.

How to Import Contacts

Follow these steps to import contacts into your account.

1. Open the Contacts Page

Navigate to Contacts from the main navigation menu.

Here you will see the Active Contacts list with details such as:

  • Name

  • Email

  • Phone Number

To start importing contacts:
  1. Click Add Contacts.

  2. Select Import Contacts from the dropdown menu.

This will open the Import Contacts window.

Step 1: Upload the CSV File

In the import window:

  1. Click Import under Import from a file.

  2. Upload your CSV file containing contact details.

The platform accepts CSV files with headers. If you are unsure about the format, you can download the Sample File provided.

The upload section allows you to:

  • Drag and drop your CSV file

  • Select a file from your computer

  • Download a sample file for reference

After selecting the file, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Map Contact Fields

Once the file is uploaded, the system will display the Map Contact From File page.

Here you need to map the column headers from your CSV file to the platform’s contact properties.

The system may automatically map fields if the column names match.

Example mappings may include:

Column Header from FileContact Property
NameName
EmailEmail
Phone NumberPhone Number
RegionRegion
Connection TypeConnection Type

A preview of the uploaded data will also be shown to help verify that the fields are mapped correctly.

If any column is not mapped, you can:

  • Select an existing contact property

  • Or create a new property to store that information

Once all fields are correctly mapped, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Save Contact Details

In the final step, you need to configure how the import will be saved.

You can:

  • Name the import for easy reference.

  • Create a new contact list with the same name as the import.

  • Add contacts to an existing contact list.

This helps organize imported contacts for survey distribution and segmentation.

After completing these options:

  1. Review the import settings.

  2. Click Finish.

Import Complete

Once the import is finished:

  • The contacts will be added to your Active Contacts list.

  • The import will also appear in Manage Imports, where you can review all previous imports.

You can now use these contacts to send surveys, manage lists, and segment respondents effectively.
