Delay Between Initial Visit to Display the Survey
What Is It?
This setting lets you delay the appearance of a survey popup on your website until a certain number of days have passed since a user’s first visit. This helps:
-
Collect feedback only after a user has had time to engage
-
Reduce early survey fatigue
-
Increase the relevance of responses

How It Works
Step 1: First Visit
Step 2: Delay Configuration
-
If you’ve set a delay (e.g., 10 days), the survey will not appear immediately.
-
The system waits until the specified number of days has passed before showing the survey.
Step 3: Future Visits
-
On each subsequent visit, user data is again sent to SurveySensum.
-
We check whether the delay period has passed since their first visit.
-
If enough days have passed, the survey is shown.
-
If not, the survey remains hidden.
Example
Let’s say the delay is set to 10 days:
Date | Action |
---|
Jan 1, 2025 | User visits for the first time → Survey not shown |
Jan 5, 2025 | Only 4 days passed → Survey not shown |
Jan 11, 2025 | 10 days passed → Survey shown |
Key Notes
-
The delay is based on the first time we receive user data.
-
You must continue sending user data on every visit for the delay logic to work.
-
This feature works well to avoid bothering new users and to get more meaningful feedback.
